YOUR LAST DAY ON EARTH?
                                                                                                            What's next?

The facts are in and the statistics are sobering; one out of every one human dies! There are no exceptions. Without doubt, one of these days, maybe sooner than we think, our heart will beat for the last time, and our lungs will exhale our last breath. Our bodies will lie still and silent; what happens then?  What is next? What do we face as we leave the realm of time and enter into eternity?

Do we cease to exist? Are we annihilated? Do we simply sleep? Is there conscience existence beyond this life?

WHAT REALLY HAPPENS TO US?

In believing the Bible to be God's only true word to humanity, and that it teaches that every one of us must face eternity at the end of this life, please carefully consider these sobering facts:

The Bible teaches that there is a conscience existence after this earthly life and that our souls never die. We will spend eternity in one of two places, heaven or hell.

These are some truths we MUST ACKNOWLEDGE to go to Heaven when we die:

(First) YOU MUST ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU ARE A SINNER

Romans 3:23    "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."

Romans 3:10    "As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one."

Every one of us has been born with a sin nature, and no one has lived up to God's righteous standard. We have all missed the mark, and fallen short of God's righteousness. Our sin separates us from God, but he wants to have a personal relationship with us.

(Second) AS A SINNER, YOU ARE UNDER A PENALTY

Romans 6:23    "For the wages of sin is death . . ."

Ezekiel 18:4   "The soul that sinneth, it shall die."
Not only is there a physical death, but the Bible describes a spiritual death. This spiritual death is also called a "second death," and is described in Revelation 20:14-15 which states, "Death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
If we pay what we owe as sinners, we must spend an eternity in the lake of fire, (eternal hell)!

(Third) YOU MUST BELIEVE THAT JESUS DIED, WAS BURIED AND ROSE TO LIFE AGAIN, TO PAY YOUR SIN DEBT

Romans 5:6     "For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly."

1 Cor. 15:3-4   " . . . Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures."

Hebrews 2:9    ". . . that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man."

John 3:16        "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Jesus Christ had no sin, but the Bible teaches that God took all of our sin and placed it on him. In bearing all our sins in His own body on the cross, God punished Him in our place.

1 Corinthians 5: 21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him." Jesus Christ paid a debt he did not owe, because we had a debt (sin) that we could not pay!

(Fourth) YOU MUST REPENT OF YOUR SIN, AND PLACE PERSONAL FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST, TRUSTING HIM ALONE TO SAVE YOUR SOUL

Ninety-nine times in the Gospel of John alone, the Bible uses the word "believe" in all of its forms. When a person has believed to the saving of their soul, they have done two things, repented and trusted Jesus Christ as Savior.

Consider the following verses:

Acts 20:21 "Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ."

We must repent toward God, because our life of sin has been against Him. We must place faith in Jesus Christ because He is the one who died for us.

John 3:36   "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life, and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

In this verse Jesus divides every person in the world into two groups, those who believe, and those who do not believe. Those who believe have everlasting life, and those who do not, shall not see life, but they have the wrath of God abiding on them.

We are not saved anytime we want to be, only when the Spirit of God burdens our sinful hearts.  Lost sinners are not in the "driver's seat" when it comes to salvation. Only God is in charge of salvation.  He must do a work of grace in our hearts to awaken us from our spiritual death. A person must see themselves lost and unrighteous as God sees them, before they can realize their need of salvation.  This happens as God "draws" us unto himself. Note what Jesus said  .  .  . "No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him . . . " (John 6:44).

God draws people to Himself by the Holy Spirit. If you know in your heart that the Spirit of God is drawing (convicting) you, that is God's way of letting you know that he wants to save you.

The only way that a person can be saved from their sins is by grace and through faith in Jesus' shed blood, APART FROM any works or human merit. Salvation is by grace alone in Jesus Christ.

Church membership does not save us, neither does living a moral lifestyle. Signing a church membership card or even being baptized is not sufficient, but ONLY by believing on Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, can we be saved from our sins.

So as God draws and convicts you, if you would trust Jesus as your Savior, you would need to pray a simple prayer similar to this one.  .  .

"Dear God,  I know that I am a sinner.  .  . I believe that you died for all sinners, which includes me. I am sorry for my sin (repentance). I ask you now to forgive me and save my soul. Thank you Lord for saving me and giving me eternal life."
If ALL of this has happened to you , on the authority of God's word, you now have eternal life.

John 6:37  "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."
John 3:36   "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life . . ."

You should immediately seek out a conservative, Bible-believing church. Talk to the pastor about making your decision public and obeying our Lord's command to be Scripturally baptized, by immersion. Faithfully attend church, study the Bible and pray daily. Tell others what Jesus has done for you and become a soul winner. Get started right, and be found faithful when Jesus comes for His church!
